A recent report from the Clarion-Ledger stated that Dan Mullen and the Mississippi State University were having a hard time scheduling out-of-conference teams.
When asked why this seemed to be such a problem Mullen stated that “We never got a lot of interest in teams wanting to play home-and-homes with us, but we’re going to continue to try to do so,” per the Clarion-Ledger.
You may recall that the Bulldogs played Oklahoma State in a neutral site game in 2013 and as of the latest scheduling demands from the front offices of the SEC each school will now have to play a team from each of the “Big 5″ conferences.
Probably a good thing MSU doesn’t have to find an out-of-conference team this season since they’ll be playing Southern Miss as their marquee out-of-conference match-up in 2014. That said the game will look be of special interest to the fans and residence in the area.
If Mullen keeps trucking the way he is in recruiting and in his efforts to rebuild the program teams in the “Big 5″ will definitely have every right to be leary of playing the Bulldogs.
